A former Confederate captain, John Carter is transported to Mars aka Barsoom, and becomes involved in a war between the various factions of the planet, allying with the princess Dejah Thoris and Thark leader Tars Tarkas and discovering that his Earth anatomy gives him incredible jumping abilities and enhanced strength.
